Santa Barbara's History Fig Tree History

In the 1800's a seaman gave a Moreton Bay Fig seed to a local girl who planted it on the corner of State Street and Figueroa in Santa Barbara. Since transplanted to its current, historic location the tree has grown into the largest of its kind in the United States. We pay respect to our history as we were inspired to capture the essence of that iconic tree and one of our favorite downtown intersections to meet friends and have a beautiful meal, Fig & State.

Like all Santa Barbara Apothecary Co. soy wax candles and items, each of our Fig & State fig candles are locally handmade. Every scent is personally blended and hand-poured in small batches to ensure a quality, long-lasting sweet fig throw throughout the room that always burns clean. They are made from 100% United States domestic soy wax with no dyes or additives and zinc-free cotton wicks for a clean and beautiful burn. All of our products are cruelty free and come encased in sustainable vintage-style amber apothecary jars. These 8 ounce candles offer a burn time of 50 – 64 hours depending on the length of each burn.

Instructions

The first time you light your candle, make sure you have 1-2 hours to let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the jar. The first burn is important in ensuring your candle burns properly all the way down. If you light your candle more than four hours at a time, it will burn down faster. Trim your wick to 1/4 inch after each burning, as needed.
